2009 yields a generation that wants more in a cell phone, in addition to the multiple features found in the smartphones 2 years ago. 2008-2009 smartphone technology has beefed up the competition in smartphone ratings and sales by enhancing these phones with more ram space to facilitate Windows integrated features, touch screens, GPS, gaming, and WiFi, as well as MP3 and MP4 music and video features including iPod functionality and movie downloads.

The Top Smartphones For 2009

There are multiple wireless service providers:  AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile to list a few.  All four providers offer the top rated integrated cell phones, as reported by C-Net, Penn Computing, and ZD.Net online reviews.  AT&T awed cell phone geeks with the first generation full web and Apple applications integrated smartphone, a slender frame, and touch screen capabilities.  This smartphone launched the next generation of integrating technology and set the pace for other wireless providers.

Apple 3G IPhone™ is the latest generation of Apple’s fully integrated phone exclusively offered through AT&T wireless services.  This generation also offers Microsoft Windows exchange options.  Full specifications can be found on the official Apple 3-G IPhone site.  Great for both mobile professionals and basic phone users with an editorial review that rated this generation of smartphones as excellent for application speed and web browsing features.

BlackBerry Bold™, manufactured by Motorola and offered by AT&T, has a slender keypad version.  However, overall size is still a bit bulky with slightly complicated web navigations, but provides excellent multimedia presentation that is perfect for professionals on the go.  Considered excellent in an editorial review, yet only received a 3 star rating out of 5 by consumers.

Samsung Omina™, a Verizon exclusive wireless provider, offers a sleek SmartPhone with full Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 business professional capabilities, including WiFi and GPS.  As reported, this phone has better browser and Windows applications speeds and easy web browsing with vivid onscreen presentation.  However, it has limited gadget upload capabilities, and the touch screen keyboard is restricted and slow.  Consumers rated the Omina with a 4.5 excellent review out of 5, and editorials rated it a 4 for its overall speed performance over the BlackBerry Storm™.

BlackBerry Storm™, the latest to the SmartPhone sector, only offered through Verizon wireless services, comes with touch screen applications.  While the BlackBerry Storm™ is the latest version to the alternative IPhone technology, certain specifications are not fully developed such as the tight stream-only onscreen keypad, which is difficult to maneuver.  Overall, it receives a top smartphone rating of good for the BlackBerry technology as reported by ZD.Net and CNet editorial reviews.

HTC Touch Diamond™, a Sprint wireless phone, is rated 4 stars out of 5 across the board as “very good” for its better multimedia and support performance for most Sprint smartphones.  It offers MS Windows Mobile  6.1, and the ultra cool touchflo edge includes WiFi and GPS features.  This phone has limited onscreen keypad capabilities and a slow response, plus its technology restricts expansion slots.  Yet, it is still rated the best for beginners and light users.

BlackBerry Curve™ by Sprint wireless received a Buzz-about-Wireless overall review of 8.9 out of a total 10 by consumers as the best phone for the average everyday user.  The BlackBerry Curve™ was not rated through CNets or ZD.Net editorials.  Its best features are the less bulky smaller frame and dynamic multimedia performance, as well as the multi-email functionality and GPS navigation.  Another of its best features is the music and video quality.  Yet, this SmartPhone lacks the touch screen capabilities and does not integrate many of the latest business professional capabilities.

Samsung Behold (SGH-T919)™, the latest smartphone offered exclusively by T-Mobile, is rated as having the most advanced touch screen technology compatible with the IPhone.  All the features make this smartphone rated as the best for the younger generation of everyday users.  It was given an overall rating across the spectrum of T-Mobile users an 8 out of 10; however, the full HTML web browser is reported with slower speed, as well as sluggish multimedia performance.  The Samsung Behold™ is good for texting and emailing; it integrates GPS Navigational features, MP3 and MP4 music, and video streaming.

How These Smartphones Are Likely To Stack Up In 2009

The top ranked wireless service providers are in constant competition to provide the newest most popular smartphone technology.  AT&T set the pace for the Smartphone technology with the IPhone, but Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile are closely keeping up with this technology and have added a wide variety of Smartphone choices.

Of the four competitors, Sprint BlackBerry Curve™ and AT&T 3G IPhone™ are currently leading with the latest most popular and inexpensively priced smart phone.  However, Verizon recently launched its latest version of the smartphone the BlackBerry Storm™, which may become more popular in 2009 among average users.

T-Mobile is anticipating a high rating for the Samsung Behold™  for 2009, which is  more popular for the younger generation vs. the BlackBerry Bold™, which was rated the most popular among professional users.  While the Samsung Omina™ is a great choice in smartphones, it’s not rated as one of the more popular phones offered through Verizon wireless.

Where You Can Find Smartphones

While the majority of the latest smartphones on the market are exclusively offered by the wireless providers and can be found at most wireless designated retail locations throughout the US, consumers can receive comparison information on the most popular features and discounted offers through the official wireless providers websites online.

If you require more detailed information about a specific smartphone, as to the full interrogations and upgrade capabilities, the best place to gather the specifics on a particular smartphone would be through the manufacturers’ websites such as Motorola, Apple, Samsung, and Ericsson.

You can expect to see upgrades to the latest, most popular smartphones, like the BlackBerry Storm™, Samsung Omina™, and Behold™, since the wireless providers as well as manufacturers work on keeping up and raising the bar in the mainstream of the SmartPhone industry for 2009.
